Airborne geophysical surveying

Hi all,
I was doing some hunting and came across a company that was identifying potential drill sites via airborne geophysical survey. This is done by towing a sensitive electro-magnetic and gravitational detector behind a helicopter.

Is this the typical way of determining drill sites? Or is this new??

Thanks.

Been done since the 30s with geiger counters. Better and more sensitive equipment all the time that can "see" deeper and deeper.
